LARGAN Precision was founded in 1987 by Group Chairman Scott Lin and the company Chairman Tony Chen, and went public in 2002. Group headquarter is located in Taichung Precision Machinery Technological Park, Taiwan. The company currently owns three factories in Taiwan, two in China, and is known as one of the world's major players in plastic aspherical lens design and production. LARGAN's products are widely distributed globally; product lines include but are not limited to lens for mobile phones, NB/laptops, tablets, automobiles, and digital cameras (DSC).

Company History

1987	Largan Precision Co.,Ltd. has been established in Nantun District Taichung City since 1987.
1990	New factories in Taichung Industrial Park were built.
1991	We were the leading Taiwanese company to introduce UPL, developing manufacturing skills, and producing plastic aspherical lens successfully in 1991.
1992	Largan firstly developed Hybrid lens applied for traditional cameras and ramp into production.
1993	We started manufacturing development programme ‘Cameras Fitted With Auto-focusing F35-70 mm zoom lenses’ authorized by Industrial Development Bureau Ministry of Economic Affairs.
1995	Ministry of Economic Affairs R.O.C. awarded us the top Ten Companies in Industrial Automation in 1995. Mr. Lee Teng-hui, former President of R.O.C, visited our headquarter in Taichung. To increase productivity, reduce cost, and expand the market share, we decided to invest the new factory in Dongguan.
1997	We became the pioneering company to the Hybrid lens used for scanner and bar-code. At the mean time we produced hig-precision optical components and assemblies applied over projectors.
1998	We Sucessfully mass-produced hybrid scanner lens, and prior to other Taiwanese companies made 2X view finder which were in mass production. We developed hybrid lens fitted to the next generation digital camera. We developed and offered a series of precision optical components and assemblies used in SVCD and VCD.
1999	To coordinate and integrate all business processes across the entire group as well as manage and coordinate all business activities across other associates, we set up an integrated technology platform, IBM hardware and ERP system especially. We produced 400 dpi scanner lens. We produced world-leading 600 dpi scanner hybrid lens. We developed autofocus module for digital camera. We developed precision optical components and assemblies applied over DVD.
2000	We, ahead of other Taiwanese companies, made 4X view finder which step into mass production at once.
2001	Largan was certified as a complilant of ISO 90001. To ensure continous growth and sustainable administration so as to achieve cooperate competiveness, we decided to merged with "Largan Optronic Co.,Ltd.
2002	We were publicly listed in Taiwan Stock Exchange(TWSE) on March 11. The operation headquarters was approved on September. We developed projector zoom lens. We developed VGA lens used for mobile phone. We developed 3.0 Megapixels 3 times zoom digital camera lens.
2002	Ranked #2 by profit rate, #92 by net profit after tax, #141 by revenue growth rate, and overall # 919 in CommonWealth Magazine's Top 1,000 survey in manufacturing industry.
2003	To increase productivity as well as reduce cost, we started to operate the new factory in Suzhou. We produced 3x Zoom lens used for digital camera and 1.3 Megapixels lens used for mobile phone. We expanded our floor space on factory number 1.
2003	Ranked #2 by profit rate, #73 by net profit after tax, #76 by revenue growth rate, and overall # 628 in CommonWealth Magazine's Top 1,000 survey in manufacturing industry.
2004	We developed 2.0 Megapixels auto focus lens for mobile phone.
2004	Ranked #3 by profit rate, #70 by net profit after tax, #202 by revenue growth rate, , and overall # 555 in CommonWealth Magazine's Top 1,000 survey in manufacturing industry.
2005	We developed 3.0 Megapixels Auto Focus lens for mobile phone.
	Ranked #5 by profit rate, #104 by net profit after tax, #894 by revenue growth rate, and overall # 635 in CommonWealth Magazine's Top 1,000 survey in manufacturing industry.
	Ranked #462 in the Top 1,000 survey in the manufacturing industry by the Business Weekly Magazine.
2006	Ranked #3 by profit rate, #73 by net profit after tax, #69 by revenue growth rate, and overall # 485 in CommonWealth Magazine's Top 1,000 survey in manufacturing industry.
	Ranked # 10 in the Top 100 technology company in Taiwan by Business Next Magazine.
	Group Chairman Scott Lin was awarded the Top 25 Technology CEO in Asia by Business Next Magazine.
	Developed 5.0 Megapixels Auto Focus camera lens for mobile phones.
2007	Ranked # 479 in the Cross-Strait Top 1,000 Company by Business Today Magazine.
2007	5.0 Megapixels Auto Focus lens for mobile phones went into mass production.
2008	Largan was certified as a complilant of ISO14001.
2008	Ranked #7 by profit rate, #74 by net profit after tax, #959 by revenue growth rate, and # 413 in CommonWealth Magazine's Top 1,000 survey in manufacturing industry.
2009	New headquaters building was opened for operation in Precision Machinery R&D Park.
	Group Chairman Scott Lin is awarded Top 100 MVP CEO by the Manager Today magazine.
	Ranked #2 by profit rate, #38 by net profit after tax, #116 by revenue growth rate, and overall # 341 in CommonWealth Magazine's Top 1,000 survey in manufacturing industry.
	8.0 Megapixels Auto Focus lens for mobile phones went into mass production.
	Developed 12.0 Megapixels Auto Focus lens for mobile phones.
	World's first lens maker to mass produce EDOF lens for mobile phones.
2010	Ranked # 53 in the Top 100 Tech Company in Taiwan by the Business Next Magazine.
2010	Mr. Tony Chen is elected as LARGAN Chairman; former Chairman Scott Lin is now the Group Chairman.
2011	Ranked # 16 in "Most Innovative Companies of 2011" survey by the central government's Industrial Development Bureau.
2012	Ranked # 13 in "Most Innovative Companies of 2012" survey by the central government's Industrial Development Bureau.
